The perception of menopause has evolved: today, we refer to it as the "NEW MENOPAUSE."
In the past, the "Old Menopause" was primarily associated with hot flashes, and hormone replacement therapy (HRT) was only used for this symptom and typically only for a short duration. Today, we know that HRT can do much more – it also plays a key role in the prevention of osteoporosis, heart disease, and dementia.
GenX is the first generation to benefit from these new insights and treatment options.
Menopause refers to the phase in which menstrual cycles permanently cease. It is a natural biological process and usually occurs between the ages of 45 and 55.
MY PERSONAL PATH
TO PERI-/MENOPAUSE CONSULTATION
My own experiences with symptoms inspired me to dive deeply into this topic and make significant changes to both my diet and exercise routine.
The positive results, with a noticeable improvement in symptoms and quick visible changes, motivated me to share this knowledge with my patients in the form of a well-founded, holistic consultation.
"I personally struggled with knee pain for years. Only through bioidentical hormones, a tailored diet, and regular strength training did the complaints almost disappear."
"I never had hot flashes, but I did experience many other symptoms like forgetfulness, concentration problems, word-finding difficulties, and brain fog, which I initially attributed to stress. These even raised concerns for me about early-onset dementia, but they turned out to be typical symptoms of perimenopause."
As an experienced doctor who is familiar with the challenges of menopause, I offer at Home of Health MENOPAUSE 2.0 – a holistic, personalized consultation and treatment that is tailored to your individual needs during this life phase.
Menopause: A Guide to the Phases and Symptoms
The menopause is officially diagnosed when a woman has not had a menstrual period for twelve consecutive months. It marks the end of reproductive capability as the ovaries produce fewer hormones, such as estrogen and progesterone.
However, these hormonal changes can cause various symptoms, which can occur even while a woman still has regular cycles. The intensity of these symptoms can vary significantly from woman to woman.
Common symptoms include: hot flashes, sleep disturbances, weight gain (especially around the abdomen), mood swings, depressive feelings, forgetfulness, brain fog, joint pain, skin changes, loss of libido and much more.
As a result, the perimenopause phase can significantly affect a woman's quality of life.
The Menopause is divided into three phases:
1. Perimenopause: This is the phase before menopause, during which hormone production becomes irregular, and the first symptoms may occur. It can begin as early as 10 years before the last menstrual period and may last several years.
2. Menopause: This marks the point when a woman has not had a period for twelve months.
3. Postmenopause: This is the time after menopause, when symptoms gradually decrease, but there may be an increased risk of age-related health issues such as osteoporosis, heart disease, and dementia.
